I’m Emily Cronin, a dedicated English tutor with over 30 years of experience helping students improve, achieve, and enjoy their learning. Based in the heart of Ilkley, I offer personalised one-to-one lessons either online or in my spacious, secluded study at home—perfect for focused, distraction-free learning. Just a short walk from Betty’s café and the train station, with free parking available, I make lessons convenient and accessible for students and parents alike. My teaching philosophy centres on understanding each student as an individual. Whether they’re struggling with confidence, not connecting with their school teachers, or facing disruptions in their education, I tailor my approach to their unique personality and needs. This one-to-one relationship allows me to assess strengths and weaknesses carefully, ensuring progress that goes beyond the classroom. I’ve helped countless students achieve significant improvements in their GCSEs and A-Levels, and many have successfully passed the 11+. My background includes a BA Hons in English Literature from Leeds University, a PGCE from the Institute of Education at London University, and an MA in English Language Teaching from King’s College London. With experience teaching in both private and state schools, as well as colleges in London and West Yorkshire, I bring a wealth of knowledge and adaptability to every lesson.
