Functional Skills

Functional Skills is a private English tutor working with students across Rochdale and online, covering everything from KS3 comprehension right through to A-Level critical analysis. Functional places particular emphasis on essay technique — learning how to construct a clear argument, use evidence effectively, and write with precision. Students work through past paper questions under exam conditions, then receive detailed feedback on how to improve structure, style and analysis. Students who have worked with Functional consistently report greater confidence in both written and spoken communication. Many go on to achieve grade 8 and 9 at GCSE, and A and A* grades at A-Level, opening doors to competitive university courses in law, history, journalism and the arts.
