Gilly Marklew
Watercolour artist and tutor offering patient, structured classes in South Norfolk
About
I’m Gilly Marklew, a watercolour artist and tutor based in the peaceful countryside of Hempnall Green, just south of Norwich in Norfolk. With over a decade of experience teaching representational watercolour painting, I specialise in helping students—whether absolute beginners or more advanced artists—build confidence and overcome common painting hurdles. My workshops are designed to be fun, informative, and structured around your individual needs, so you leave with skills you can apply to your own creative journey. I’ve taught countless students in my dedicated studio at Grove Farmhouse in Lundy Green, where the idyllic setting provides the perfect escape from daily distractions. My approach focuses on breaking down techniques into manageable steps, ensuring you grasp the fundamentals before moving on to more complex projects. Whether you’ve never held a paintbrush or you’re looking to refine your style, my twice-monthly workshops offer a supportive environment to grow. I’ve seen firsthand how structured learning can transform frustration into joy, and I’m passionate about helping each student find their unique artistic voice. Based in South Norfolk, I welcome learners from Norwich, Diss, and the surrounding areas to join me in these intimate, small-group sessions. My goal is to make watercolour accessible to everyone, so you can take these skills home and continue creating long after the workshop ends.
